Directed by Guy Ritchie

The Boy who would grow up to be Cranky could not be torn away from a b/w teevee screen for each week's airing of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," whose series finale was a two-part episode . . . which never aired its second part. U.N.C.L.E was bumped for a thing called "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In". Truth. So, on to the movie . . .

IN SHORT: nnn. [Rated PG-13 for action violence, some suggestive content, and partial nudity. minutes]

CIA Operative Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill),KGB Agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer)

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

East German auto mechanic Gaby Teller (Alicia Vikander), daughter of a now-missing Nazi rocket scientist, Dr. Udo Teller (Christian Berkel) believed to be held in Rome by a mysterious multi-national criminal organization. Ilya poses as her fiance. Suspect is her uncle Rudi (Sylvester Groth) neo-nazi.f

Solo had made a living in the post WWII black market, selling looted art {!!!???] and such. The CIA bust him with a work for us or go to jail ultimatum. Solo prefers good suits to stripes. Kuryakin, on the other hand, is a Communist Party member all the way. disdainfully calls Solo "The Cowboy".

CIA boss Sanders, (Jared Harris), Waverly (Hugh Grant)

KGB boss Oleg (Misha Kuznetsov)

Uncle Rudi, a diehard Nazi, is in league with the über-wealthy but morally bankrupt power couple Alexander and Victoria Vinciguerra (Luca Calvani and Elizabeth Debicki). Together, they are attempting to coerce his brother-in-law, Udo Teller, into revealing his revolutionary method of uranium enrichment. It's a process that will make atomic bombs far quicker and easier to assemble, and sell to the highest bidder.

On average, a first run movie ticket will run you Ten Bucks. Were Cranky able to set his own price to Title, he would have paid . . .
