IN SHORT: nnn. [Rated . minutes]
Dad has spent all of his adult life working in the factory, putting PVC protective coating on telephone cables and other such wires. The four children have moved to different cities to raise their families. All familial info has been routed via Jean, the mom, because dad just expected too much and pushed too hard and wanted, check that, told his kids that he wanted them to make him proud, regardless of what they chose to do. This is a familial situation I understand. This is a familial situation that we just don't see a lot of on the big screen. And when the wife is dead and buried dad decides to spend the christmas holiday with his children. He doesn't tell them he's coming because he knows darn well that, given even a hint of his impending arrival, said kidlets will come up with a reason why they are going to be out of town on those particular days. In other words, Everybody's Fine turns the usual schmaltzy Chistmas movie on its head. It's a good thing. [sorry]
What is even more of a pleasure is watching Robert De Niro not get angry and raise his voice to shake the rafters.
On average, a first run movie ticket will run you Ten Bucks. Were Cranky
able to set his own price to Everybody's Fine, he would have paid . . .
